Role Summary

Nathan graduated from Plymouth Marjon University and has returned to lecture Physical Education and Teacher Education for MTEP (School of Education). He is the Postgraduate PE Programme Coordinator and a fellow of the HEA (AdvanceHE).

As a leader and teacher of Physical Education for 10 years, Nathan has worked in the Middle East, Malaysia, China, and the United Kingdom. Leading Physical Education in BSO-accredited international schools and further education institutions in the UK, Nathan has taught physical education to children aged 5-18. Whilst in schools, Nathan has had the responsibility of leading 'teaching and learning' and 'coaching' programmes, as well as mentoring recently qualified teachers.

Research interests:

Meaningful Physical Education, constraints-led approaches, ecological dynamics, knowledge-rich curriculum, curriculum design, mentoring and coaching of trainee teachers and subject mentors, and teacher identity.

Other Interests

I enjoy spending time with my family (wife and young son), being active and outdoors, coaching grassroots football, travelling and exploring, learning to cook food from different cultures, and reading and listening to podcasts.
