BA English Language and Professional Studies (top up)

Gain a full top up UK degree in one year. This one-year 'top up' programme is specifically designed for people with English as a second language who already have a degree. Using accreditation of prior learning, it will enable you to achieve a full UK degree in one year of full-time study.

Course Summary

It is particularly suited to people who wish to demonstrate their professional capabilities and English language skills in order to develop their profession in the UK. You will explore professional life and culture, and English language skills along with independent study elements. There is the opportunity for you to develop specialist interest in areas like translation, education, communication, English language, employment, entrepreneurship, health, management and more.

This degree fully integrates English language development and study skills and includes a specialist project module to prepare for master’s level study. The course runs across three terms, to help you spread the workload. It will require one full day a week on campus between September and May.

Your course will be taught over an extended year with six overlapping modules. It includes language classes, workshops, seminars, 1-2-1 tutorials and online lectures.

I have worked in Higher Education teaching English Language for 14 years and I am an active researcher in ESOL. Before this I spent 7 years abroad, teaching and running courses in Poland, Qatar and Japan. I have travelled widely, experiencing a lot of cultures and look forward to hearing about your experiences in our classes.
