Course Summary

Our new BA English Language and Professional Studies (top up) is for people who wish to demonstrate their professional capabilities and English language skills so they can develop and improve their professional life here in the UK. It will also help prepare you for master’s level study, if that is what you would like to do next. You will explore professional life and variation in culture and you will develop your English language skills. To help you, we have small classes, alongside independent study and 1-2-1 tutorials. It also includes a specialist project module to so that you can look in depth at your own topic. 

The course is designed with you in mind. You will study between September and July, across three terms, to help you spread the workload. There will be a single set day a week on campus between September and May, plus online sessions, group work and one to one tutorials. You can study this programme full or part time.

Your course will be taught over an extended year with six overlapping modules. It includes language classes, workshops, seminars, 1-2-1 tutorials and online lectures.

Dr Stephen J Disney has worked in Higher Education teaching English Language for 14 years and is an active researcher in ESOL. Before this, he spent 7 years abroad, teaching and running courses in Poland, Qatar and Japan. He has travelled widely, experiencing a lot of cultures and looks forward to hearing about your experiences in our classes.
