It is particularly suited to people who wish to demonstrate their professional capabilities and English language skills in order to develop their profession in the UK. You will explore professional life and culture, and English language skills along with independent study elements. There is the opportunity for you to develop specialist interest in areas like translation, education, communication, English language, employment, entrepreneurship, health, management and more.
This degree fully integrates English language development and study skills and includes a specialist project module to prepare for master’s level study. The course runs across three terms, to help you spread the workload. It will require one full day a week on campus between September and May.

The course can lead to a diverse area of careers or further study. It is a good opportunity for you to develop your specialist interests in areas like translation, education, communication, English language, employment, entrepreneurship, health and management.
Your course will be taught over an extended year with six overlapping modules. It includes language classes, workshops, seminars, 1-2-1 tutorials and online lectures.
There is a wide range of practical and personalised assessment, including English tests, portfolios, essays and presentations.
I have worked in Higher Education teaching English Language for 14 years and I am an active researcher in ESOL. Before this I spent 7 years abroad, teaching and running courses in Poland, Qatar and Japan. I have travelled widely, experiencing a lot of cultures and look forward to hearing about your experiences in our classes.
Steve's background is in language, linguistics and human communication. He has particular interests in the power of language in human interactions, global use of language and the history of words.
