Applying and Clearing FAQs

You may have a number of questions about your application, the Clearing process, and what happens once you have got your exam results.

If you can't find the answer to your question here please contact us on

What is Clearing?

Clearing is a university application service available between July and September. It enables students to find and apply to universities which still have places available on specific courses. For further information see the UCAS Clearing website.

From Tuesday 5th July 2022, you can apply for a course using Clearing if you do not currently have an offer from a university. If you have already received an offer to study at university, but would like to apply elsewhere, you can apply through Clearing from A-level results day on Thursday 18th August 2022. Clearing closes on Tuesday 18th October 2022.

I'm not registered with UCAS, can I apply?

You have to be registered with UCAS to apply to us.

Clearing applications can only be made through UCAS.

I have not applied to Marjon, do you have any spaces?

We anticipate having spaces on some of our courses. If you are looking for courses available in Clearing please check the UCAS website or call us – we are here to help. You do not need to have applied to Marjon already.

If you are holding an offer from another university, you will need to be released into Clearing by that institution. Please email us on with any queries about applying to Marjon.

I've completed the clearing form, what happens next?

We’ll receive your enquiry and we’ll be in touch to get some more information about your qualifications and to see how we can help.

If you haven't heard from us, it may be because we can't get through on the phone or our email has gone to your junk folder. Drop us an email at

If I’m offered a place what will I need to do?

We’ll guide you through submitting an application depending on where you are in the process. Make sure you know where your certificates are - even if you took them a while ago, we will still need to confirm you hold the qualifications you say you do.

As an offer-holder, you will receive a range of information before September about student life at Marjon, accommodation, what you need to do to prepare, how to enrol, and much more. If you have any specific queries, you can always email and we'll be more than happy to help.

I’m holding a place at another uni. What can I do?

If you are holding a place at another university but interested in a course at Marjon instead, by all means contact us for more information. We are happy to talk to you.

We would not be able to make you a formal offer unless you have been released by your first university and the Clearing system means that you must have received your grades as it would be an automatic Unconditional offer if appropriate.

Get in touch with us, by emailing, for more information. In the meantime, you’re welcome to have a look at our course pages, book a campus tour, or chat to a current Marjon student.

I’m holding an offer, but I’d like to defer to next year.

Please email to request this. It would be helpful if you could explain why you want to defer.

We may need to talk to the Programme Lead for the course you have an offer for, and we’ll be in touch with you once we have an outcome.

I hold an offer with Marjon, but I want to change course.

This is normally not a problem at all, although it does depend on the course. Your alternative course may require higher grades, interviews or auditions, for example.

Please email  to ask about your preferred change and we'll do all we can to help. We may need to talk to the Programme Lead for the new course, and we’ll be in touch with you as soon as we can.

Is it too late to apply to university?

Not at all: plenty of people apply through Clearing or late on in the process. Some courses may already be full, but you can check that on our Clearing enquiry page. We'll help you to apply, then we'll support you to get ready and gather all the information you need to be ready to start in September.

You can apply for Student Finance now even if you’re waiting to hear back from us and you can have a look at our accommodation and take a campus tour.

I'm still awaiting my results: what should I do?

If you have applied to Marjon and still waiting for your results

Don’t worry – we are holding your place until you have your final result, if you have any updates on your results please let us know at

If you have not yet applied to Marjon and still waiting for your results

If you are interested in a place at Marjon but still awaiting results, please email

If you have your results but there is no change on UCAS

If you have received your final confirmed results, but there is no change on your UCAS status, please email a copy of your results to Please note that we can't accept provisional results.

If you need some addition help

If you’d like to visit campus, speak to a current student, an academic or other staff (such as Student Support or Student Funding) please get in contact with Lydia at

Can I speak to a lecturer about the course?

Of course, our lecturers are always happy to chat to future students! We know that a conversation can really help you to ask all the critical questions about the course, and get to know them before you start.

Whether you've made your decision or are weighing up options, a conversation about the course can really help.

Please get in touch with our Student Recruitment team who will be able to arrange this for you, on or call on 01752 636727.

Will I get accommodation on campus?

We're sorry - our Accommodation is now full for September 2022 but you should be able to get alternative private accommodation.

If you are looking for 2023, please note you can apply for accommodation as soon as you have an offer from Marjon, and have "firm accepted" it. Some conditions apply.

I've emailed but haven't had a response yet.

We aim to get back to everyone promptly, but please do call us on 0800 015 2534.

Please note that as we approach A-Level Results Day, there are strict rules which govern what guidance we can offer and what changes can be made to applications. From Tuesday 26th July, universities are unable to make any changes to applications until after results have been released.

Also, in the week leading up to A Level Results Day we are restricted in what information we can discuss with applicants. During this time, please email us at and we’ll reply as soon as we’re able to.
