Course Summary

As a Healthcare Scientist you’ll be involved throughout the patient journey to perform diagnostic tests, analyse results and make vital clinical decisions. 

On this programme you’ll get to develop and practice your clinical skills in our onsite clinics and simulation rooms, under the expert supervision of our academic staff and practitioners, before putting them into practice working with patients of all ages and abilities. 

You’ll get real life experience in a clinical placement close to your home, with the opportunity to specialise in one of these areas (for BSc (Hons) direct entry): 

  • Audiology
  • Cardiac Physiology
  • Neurophysiology
  • Respiratory Physiology
  • Sleep Physiology

If taking the Degree Apprenticeship (Healthcare Science Practitioner) route, the pathways on offer are:

The NHS is one of the largest employers in the world and this degree provides you with the skills, knowledge and experience to work at the heart of the NHS as a healthcare scientist. There is a recognised skills shortage in this area and our course is designed to meet the requirements of the sector. Delivery is mostly online and is supported by three residential blocks through each year of study.

What might you become?

On successful completion of the programme, you will be eligible to apply to register on the Academy for HCS accredited register which is recognised and supported by Health Education England, as a Healthcare Science Practitioner in your specialist field.
