In my amateur golf career, I reached a handicap +3, I played in many golf tournaments across the UK and Europe. From a hobby, golf became a lifestyle and now my future career. I wanted to become a tournament professional golfer but my health decided for me so I dedicated my time and effort to study at university and achieved BSc (Hons) in Tournament Golf and a MA in Golf Performance and Management.
Training load in various sports in recent years has been research extensively however in golf it is yet to be explored. My PhD project will aim to create normative data for training loads in golf and how they can affect performance. I work with golfers at Tournament Golf College and will be using their students for my research. I hope the results of my PhD will help to structure the college and also golf programs and teams to improve the performance of golfers.
