Purpose

What the committee does

The Governance &  Nominations Committee is responsible for evaluating the balance of skills, knowledge and experience on the Board of Governors or its sub-committees and to interview and nominate membership for approval by the Board of Governors.

The Governance & Nominations Committee ensures the Board of Governors membership is diverse, quorate and monitors the re-appointment of members into their second term. The Nominations committee also oversees the effectiveness of the Board.

Effectiveness

How we perform

The Governance & Nominations Committee is responsible for reviewing the effectiveness of governance arrangements within the University, its Board and sub-committees. The Terms of Reference require the committee to:

  • Evaluate, at least annually, the effectiveness of the Board of Governors.
  • Adopt an approach of continuous improvement to governance, in order to enhance the effectiveness of the Board.
  • Receive reports from the Academic Board regarding Academic Governance. Examining the outcomes of academic governance effectiveness reviews.
